Playdates!

Oh playdates, playdates and more playdates.  Through the years playdates have taken on many different versions at my house from working full time, working from home as a consultant and now working full time with some flexibility.  The caliber and expectations from my first to my fourth kid have changed drastically. When Maddi was younger we had playdates at museums, full on tea parties and always had an agenda with a healthy snack and craft options.  I’m serious, an agenda with full blown themes. Fast …

Like vs. Respect

Hustle Mom Hustle is all about balance; parenting, career and personal growth.  Most of my focus has been sharing Mom moments or personal stories. I’m going to shift my focus this week since this seems to be how the majority of my time is spent @ work.  My intent is to share advice on professional growth and personal tips that keep me grounded (aka sane). I’ve been working professionally and growing successfully for what seems like my entire life (started my first job was when …

What Are You Deeply Passionate About?

I am passionate about thinking and about learning, usually centered on the theme of constant improvement. Some of these passions developed as a result of the best compliment I’ve ever received. I feel most valued when someone asks for my opinion. I love being a sounding board, knowing that I bring a unique perspective to the table. Right out of college I worked for Ameritech Cellular. I started as a sales associate. I spent the first 3 months in training and …

Many women feel uncomfortable when someone compliments them, and rattle off a list of faults in response. Stop doing that. If you’re having a ‘show and tell’ or sharing session at work, or with family and friends, stop opening your ‘share’ with something like “I know this is stupid but….” or “I know this is lame but….” Accept …

What’s Your Personality Type?

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a big fan of personality tests. My latest favorite is 16 Personalities; it closely resembles the Myers Briggs test — but it’s free and “freakishly accurate”. Once your personality type has been identified, the summary sheds light on everything from your career choices, to how to find the work environment best for you, along with information about friendships, romantic relationships, etc. Understanding my personality type has helped me further hone in on my strengths and has helped me …
