I’ll Have my Cake and Eat it Too

A long time ago in a castle far away a twenty-something version of myself stumbled upon the website Allrecipes.com. Over the years I bookmarked and saved and screenshotted and emailed recipes I was interested in trying. I’ll set the scene a bit more for you…I’m not a cook, I’m not a baker, I’m AM a picky eater, and the kind of recipes I am interested in must require very few ingredients with basic techniques. In the last decade or so, there have been two go-to recipes I know by name and regularly lookup on Allrecipes.com; one is an entree and one is a cake.

I celebrated my half birthday last week and besides treating myself to dinner, I decided I’d go all out and make myself a cake……THE cake….my fav-o-rite cake of all time, except for my Sucker Grandma’s cake. =(

Ladies and gentlemen I would like to introduce you to the best cake recipe for me; one that I have customized many different ways and always had success.

Introducing “Too Much Chocolate Cake

Original recipe provided by Denise

I may make some enemies by writing this, but regular brown chocolate isn’t my favorite flavor. I’m much more interested in desserts flavored with vanilla, strawberry, lemon, caramel, or white chocolate. That being said, the chocolate version of this cake is simply out of this world. It doesn’t even require icing; the cake itself is so delicious on its own OR if you’re like my hubby, pair the warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. You’re welcome.

Since I’m a fan of other flavors, I’ll share some of the other winning combos I’ve tried with this recipe.

Original:
Devil’s food cake mix, chocolate pudding mix, semi-sweet chocolate chips

Strawberry: ***my favorite***
Strawberry cake mix, vanilla pudding mix, white chocolate chips

Lemon:
Lemon cake mix, lemon pudding mix, white chocolate chips

Caramel Cheesecake
White cake mix, cheesecake pudding mix, caramel chips

Mint Chocolate:
Chocolate cake mix, chocolate pudding mix, mint chocolate chips

Peanut Butter Chocolate:
Devil’s food cake mix, vanilla pudding mix, peanut butter chips

Pistachio:
White cake mix, pistachio pudding, heath toffee baking bits

What do you think sounds the best? What flavor combinations can you think of that I haven’t tried?
