Get to know me: I’m a SVP of Client Services for Dealer Inspire, an award-winning website platform and digital marketing company in Chicago. We were even on the Crain’s Fastest 50 growing companies last year. Can you tell I love my job and am proud of where I work? I thrive on being challenged by my job and it is something I’ve worked very hard for. Four years ago I took a leap of faith and landed a Vice President role at Dealer Inspire/LDM, a start up at the time. Today I pride myself on helping my leadership team hone their skills and drive excellence for our company. Being a mentor and coach is one of my favorite roles.
My other favorite title is Mom. Being a mom has always been a dream of mine. I truly don’t recall a time in my life when I didn’t want to be a mom. Raising my three wonderful children with my husband is what fulfills the other half of my soul. They are my everything!
On the weekends and in the evenings, I am chasing my littles. They are not quite so little any more and all of the things they say about this time period are so true. It is crazy and chaotic. It is flying by and moving too fast. And I know these will be the years I look back on and treasure the most. I am trying to hold onto that last one as I run through my days, my nights and my weekends! Between travel baseball, soccer, fastpitch softball, volleyball and all of their school events and performances, we are busy, to say the very least!
Get to know my family: My husband Brian and I have three beautiful children. Kiley is 14 and is a freshman in High School. C.J. is 12 and in the 7th grade. And Connor is 9 and in 4th grade. This is our first year with all 3 in a different school. Just when I thought it couldn’t get busier, life threw the 3 schools card at me. LOL!
Where my mom game is on point: LOVE>> My mom hustle begins and ends with love. These three could not be more loved and I work very hard to make sure they know it. I would also say that my mom hustle is on point when it comes to consistency. I don’t waiver very much. They know what they are going to get from me (the good and the bad) and I think that consistency goes a long way. We talk about EVERYTHING. This may fall into the “on point” category and the “lacking”. LOL! I have to talk everything through and make sure, I mean really make sure, they understand what I am saying. (Insert mom lecture tone here.) But I always want to ensure that nothing goes “unsaid”. And that they always know what I meant. I think that’s so very important.
Where I’m lacking: I can be too black and white sometimes. I don’t let the grey area exist much. Teaching them lessons and talking everything through can be overkill sometimes. And I would say, my Irish temper and short fuse get the better of me sometimes as well. I am always direct and in some instances that can sting a bit. But I really work hard to go back around and make sure that they understand the reasoning behind decisions and actions. And most importantly that they know I love them more than anything on earth!
Why I’m excited about this project: I am excited and scared about this project. I am excited about the interaction and the camaraderie that I have already built with the beautiful women with whom I am sharing this journey. I look forward to expanding that circle and bringing all of you into the center. But it is also scary to be vulnerable and share my experiences. Parenting is one of the most amazing and rewarding jobs, but it is also judged very harshly. I hope that we can all come here and share our ideas and experiences, embrace our similarities and learn from our differences. I look forward to every part of this journey and all that it will bring to my life. I am always looking to grow and learn. This is just one more extension of that.
What you can expect me to write about: First and foremost, I am going to write about what I love. That list includes my family, my home, my job, my work family and the holidays. I love decorating and DIY projects. So in addition to writing about my kids, my husband and my family life, I will be writing about my projects. I always have projects that I am working on and love decorating my house. I also love cooking and baking. I can’t wait to bring you into my home and my family. I truly believe that is where the HEART is and the heart is in the HOME.
