Spring Kicks Our Butts

mom hustle, sports mom, busy mom

Well, it’s official. Spring is back in season, even though Mother Nature hasn’t figured it out. The weather has been so bad in the midwest that I could make this post just about that. (But I won’t) But I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how bad it has been. We are running our butts off to get my three to all of their games and then sitting in the freezing cold, cloudy skies and sometimes drizzle. YUCK! Come on Mother Nature, give us some sunshine!

Life in the spring is a whirlwind. I work a pretty intense job as it is, but add the activities of the spring and I am not sure if I am coming or going most days. It becomes the ultimate juggling act. Trying to balance work, work functions, travel, and getting my kids from practice, to games, to practice again and then another game.

I have heard from the moms that have gone through these years and I am listening. My ears are wide open. They tell me that these are the years I will yearn for. And I trust them. I know they are right because I LOVE watching my kids play ball. I have 2 boys in travel baseball and my daughter is in travel softball, travel volleyball and high school softball. Life is insane! To say our life is crazy is an UNDERSTATEMENT!!!! My husband and I are high-fiving on the way out the door most days.  Dinner is split into providing for whatever kids are in your car and most nights end in fast food.

This past weekend, we had 10 games, 3 kids/teams, and 4 fields. My son played in a tournament an hour from our house. And between the games of that tournament,  we were running back to Naperville/Bolingbrook for softball and baseball for our other 2 kids! The days started early and ended very late. Our last game on Sunday night started at 8:00 p.m.

This is our 4th year of this intense spring schedule. My husband and I divide and conquer and I have to give a special shout out to our parents who help us whenever we can’t make all of the pieces work.

It truly takes a village to keep all of this running smoothly. And I know those that have gone before me know exactly what I am talking about, this is a full time job.

It is one of the things that I will look back on and know I will be sad it is over. But when I talk about the Mom Hustle. This is what I mean. This is above and beyond and requires coordination and strength.

I am sending a huge shout out to all of my sports moms and dads. You are amazing! And for those of you that aren’t here yet, get ready! The ride is fast and furious! But….oh so worth it!

So for now, I’m going to throw on my ball cap, my shades and I can’t forget my Mom Hustle shirt! Cheering on my three is what this ride is all about.

Cheers Mommas! I think I need a glass of wine. Oh, yes, that is exactly what the doctor ordered! See you on the ball field!
